ETTowles Court sale blow to arts sceneAccording to a Herald-Tribune article, the courtyard at Towles Court is up for sale at $725,000 ("Beloved Towles Court courtyard in downtown Sarasota for sale," Jan. 19). Just off Washington Boulevard, Towles Court may be the closest thing Sarasota has to Greenwich Village in New York City. Once a month Towles Court holds a Friday Art Walk with artists and live music in the courtyard. Towles Court may be able to survive without its attractive courtyard ringed with galleries and open-air restaurants like Indigenous and The Garden Room. But it will be one more blow to Sarasota's once-thriving artists' colony.
